Technical Design & Sketches

Since 2013, I’ve helped companies and independent clients with technical design, working on fit comments, pattern corrections, researching sizing and fit, and making technical sketches. I have a broad knowledge of construction techniques for cut-and-sew and sweater knitting, and I really enjoy drawing flats!

I can work with you to gather and/or develop the information you need to include in a tech pack for manufacturing. This usually includes (but is not limited to) measurements, construction sketches, flat sketches, building the Bill of Materials (BOM), and quality control documents. I work in Adobe Illustrator and Excel/Google Sheets.

Soft Goods Development

My knowledge of prototyping using a laser cutter, heat bonding, adhesives, and cut-and-sew techniques can now help you develop your soft goods project from design/first concept to a final, production-ready prototype.

I have experience incorporating electronics into soft goods and clothing, and am very familiar with various foam & neoprene you may want to use in your product.

Pattern Making and Production

Though my expertise is primarily in flat pattern making, I do have some experience using 2D & 3D pattern making software. I’ve created patterns from scratch and edited factory patterns for better fit. I can create a pattern from measurements or build one to fit your existing object.

I’ve worked with local and overseas vendors and factories in manufacturing clothing and soft goods. I can help you set-up your product for a production run, whether that means creating a tech pack or sewing a sample – I can also evaluate samples from the factory, and set-up quality control documents to help the workers during manufacturing.

Prototyping & Limited Sample Runs

I enjoy making physical goods, but I am not a factory. That being said, I can help you with prototyping, trade show samples, and limited sample runs, depending on construction techniques needed.

In my studio, I have a single needle lockstitch industrial machine, an adjustable width zig-zag sewing machine, a small serger, and a small home sewing machine for buttonholes and other odds & ends.
